About Glengarry Hilton
Discover the Legendary Glengarry Hilton
Nestled in the heart of the Grawin Opal Fields, the Glengarry Hilton has a storied history that’s as colourful as the opals it surrounds. Originally starting in the back of a rabbit chiller, it served thirsty miners with a makeshift bar. In time, the miners decided to build their own pub, a structure that still forms part of today’s iconic venue. Despite its humble beginnings as an unlicensed “sly grog shop,” the Glengarry Hilton gained full legality in 1993, securing its place as a cherished outback institution.
Open 7 days a week from 11 am till late, the Glengarry Hilton is more than just a pub. Guests can mingle with miners, admire raw opals, or try their hand at fossicking in the pub’s own fossicking area. The Tuckervan serves hearty pub meals, including burgers, schnitzels, and steaks, for lunch (12 pm–2 pm) and dinner (6 pm–8 pm). Summer hours may vary, but the warm hospitality never does.
Amenities include free camping, 24/7 toilets, hot communal showers (small fee), and a washing machine. The pub offers backpacker-style accommodation with linen and towels provided, and both indoor and outdoor dining spaces. Stay warm by the firepit or potbelly stove while enjoying your favourite beer, wine, or spirits.
Don’t miss Thursday’s Jag the Joker or the vibrant Easter Weekend, featuring a seafood buffet and live music. From intimate gatherings to large functions of up to 500 people, the Glengarry Hilton offers a unique, unforgettable outback experience.
