About Tibooburra Hotel
Discover the Iconic Tibooburra Hotel – “The Two-Storey” Gem of the Outback
Nestled in the heart of Tibooburra, a historic town once known as “The Granites,” the Tibooburra Hotel stands as an enduring symbol of Australia’s gold-rush heritage. Built in 1882 from locally quarried sandstone, this elegant two-storey building has been a cornerstone of the town’s history, offering travelers and locals a place of respite and community for over a century.
A Legacy of History
Originally established during the gold rush in the Albert Goldfields, Tibooburra emerged as a bustling township. The Tibooburra Hotel, affectionately known as “The Two-Storey,” is the oldest surviving hotel in the town. Constructed with hand-cut sandstone transported by horse and cart, it embodies the spirit and resilience of the early settlers. Over the years, the hotel has seen many names, including the Albert Hotel and the Royal Hotel, before returning to its original title, the Tibooburra Hotel.
