Step into history at the Noccundra Hotel, the only surviving building in the tiny township of Noccundra. Established in 1882 and Heritage Listed in 1977, this sandstone icon has been serving travelers and locals for over a century. Located 142 km west of Thargomindah along the Wilson River, it offers a true Outback experience.

A Rich Heritage

Built from locally quarried sandstone transported by camel train, the Noccundra Hotel became a hub for outback communications and social gatherings. First licensed in 1886, it remains a cherished landmark connecting visitors to the region’s history.

Stay and Explore

The hotel offers comfortable donga-style rooms with fresh linen and shared bathrooms. Free bush camping, 300 meters away, includes toilets and hot showers (registration required). Limited powered caravan sites are available with prior booking.

Dining and Fuel

Enjoy hearty counter lunches (12 pm–2 pm) and evening meals with takeaway options (from 6 pm). Fuel up with diesel and unleaded petrol (91) during designated hours.

Nature and Sustainability

Surrounded by pristine landscapes, it’s an ideal spot for bushwalking, birdwatching, and kayaking. Sustainability is a priority, with recycling facilities available for cans, bottles, and more.
